Children's Art Observatory 2024
We announce the programme for the next edition of the Children’s Art Observatory! On 10-11 October 2024 we will meet in Poznań to talk about the status of art for children and young people.
We will address the following questions:
- what or who determines the low or high status of art for young people?
- whether and why does this discussion matter to us?
- what influence do professionals working in this area have on the status of art for young people? what masks do we put on when we talk about our work?
- what is the relationship between the status of art for young people and childhood?
- on what principles does the field of art for young people operate? are we prepared to create its rules? do we expect to be recognised and honoured from the outside? how do we understand our agency?
- is there space for youth participation in this work? and why do we, as adults, engage in creativity for young people?
The low status of art for children and young people is the most frequently indicated barrier in the work of those involved in creative work for children and young people in the field of performing arts and literature (the result of research conducted by the Children’s Art Center in Poznan in May 2024). We invite you to reflect together and perhaps seek solutions!
A performative part is also planned. The performance ‘Tragic Magic Today’ by the Pinsker+Bernhardt collective (Germany) with performative translation by Iwona Nowacka will be presented.
The event is held in Polish. Individual elements of the programme may be translated into Polish Sign Language.
