We are announcing an Open call for a Musical Event for Children
We are delighted to invite artists and creative collectives to take part in the Open call for a Musical Event for Children. The premiere of the winning project will take place during the 26th Biennale of Art for Children.
The open call for a Musical Event for Children forms part of the programme of the 26th Biennale of Art for Children and is dedicated to developing new artistic proposals for very early childhood. Its aim is to select a project that responds thoughtfully and consciously to the needs of children up to the age of two, taking into account how they experience the world through the senses, movement and relationships with their caregivers.
We are looking for new, high-quality musical events aimed at the youngest audiences, which consider the specific developmental characteristics of early childhood and respond to their sensory, emotional and relational needs.
Projects submitted to the open call may take a variety of forms, including concerts, music performances, performative actions, sound installations and interdisciplinary works. All proposed events should have a strong artistic character and be designed with the intention of repeated presentation.
The selected project will be produced by the Children’s Art Centre in Poznań in collaboration with the artist or collective. Its premiere will take place during the 26th Biennale of Art for Children, between 30 May and 6 June 2027, at Scena Wspólna in Poznań.
Who is the Open call for?
The open call is open to artists and creative collectives working across various artistic disciplines – particularly in music, but also in theatre, dance, visual arts and interdisciplinary practices. We welcome both those with experience in creating work for very young audiences and those for whom developing projects for children up to the age of two represents a new creative challenge.
The open call is primarily addressed to artists connected with Poznań and the surrounding region, as well as those based elsewhere who collaborate with a local performing team. Detailed terms and conditions are set out in the Open call Regulations (polish language only).
An event designed for the youngest audiences
The proposed event should be family-oriented and tailored to the needs of children up to the age of two and their caregivers. It is important to consider how very young children experience art – through sensory engagement, proximity, movement and interaction – and to create conditions that enable comfortable and flexible participation.
We are committed to ensuring that the event is accessible to people with diverse needs. We encourage applicants to design their projects in as inclusive and universal a way as possible, taking into account the diversity of audiences. To support this process, a description of the accessibility of Scena Wspólna is included in the Open call Regulations.
Further information about the open call, as well as the open call Regulations, can be found on our website in the “Open call for professionals” section.
