Open call for professionals
The Children’s Art Centre in Poznań invites artists and creative collectives to take part in the Open call for a Musical Event for Children. The premiere of the winning project will take place during the 26th Biennale of Art for Children.
We are seeking new, high-quality musical events aimed at the youngest audiences, which take into account the specific developmental characteristics of early childhood and respond to children’s sensory, emotional and relational needs.
Projects submitted to the open call may take a variety of forms, including concerts, music performances, performative actions, sound installations and interdisciplinary works. All proposed events should have a clear artistic character and be designed with the intention of repeated presentation.
The selected project will be produced by the Children’s Art Centre in Poznań. Its premiere will take place during the 26th Biennale of Art for Children, between 30 May and 6 June 2027, at Scena Wspólna in Poznań.
The total production budget is PLN 60,000 (PLN 10,000 in 2026 and PLN 50,000 in 2027).
Who is the Open call for?
The open call is addressed to artists and creative collectives working across various artistic disciplines – particularly in music, but also in theatre, dance, visual arts and interdisciplinary practices. We welcome both those with experience in creating work for very young audiences and those for whom developing projects for children up to the age of two represents a new creative challenge.
The open call is primarily aimed at artists connected with Poznań and the surrounding region, as well as those based elsewhere who collaborate with a local performing team. Detailed terms and conditions are set out in the Open call Regulations.
Aims of the Open call
The open call for a Musical Event for Children forms part of the programme of the 26th Biennale of Art for Children and is intended to support the development of new artistic work for early childhood audiences.
Its aim is to select a project that responds thoughtfully and consciously to the needs of children up to the age of two, recognising their ways of experiencing the world through the senses, movement and relationships with caregivers.
The open call addresses the limited availability of high-quality musical events for this age group. We are particularly interested in projects that treat the child as an active participant in the artistic experience and that expand the language of music and performance in ways open to sensory engagement and relational interaction.
Accessibility
We are committed to ensuring that the event is accessible to people with diverse needs. We encourage applicants to design their projects in as inclusive and universal a way as possible, taking into account the diversity of audiences.
To support this process, a description of the accessibility of Scena Wspólna is included in the Open Call Regulations.
Additional information
Submitted projects may take various forms, such as concerts, music performances, performative actions or sound installations. It is essential that the proposed events have a strong artistic character and are designed for multiple presentations.
The event should be family-oriented and tailored to the needs of children up to the age of two and their caregivers. It is important to consider how very young children experience art – through sensory engagement, proximity, movement and interaction – and to create conditions that allow for comfortable and flexible participation.
The open call is held in two stages. In the first stage, the Jury selects projects to be invited for further discussion. The second stage consists of meetings with the artists, during which the project concepts are developed in greater detail.
The selected project will be produced in the first quarter of 2027 by the Children’s Art Centre in Poznań, in collaboration with the artists or collectives. The premiere will take place during the 26th Biennale of Art for Children at Scena Wspólna, and the work may become part of its ongoing repertoire.
The development process will also include expert consultations supporting the refinement of the concept.
