The future is coming! Let’s try to discover together what can we expect from it! What will remain of the world as we know it, and what will change beyond recognition? Will we free ourselves from the constraints of modernity? Or, on the contrary, face new barriers, beyond our present imagination? Visit the interactive multimedia exhibition to find out what the future may hold.

Built by Poznań’s young artists, Janek Skorupa and Przemek Degórski, the promenade installation will include three rooms-stages of wandering. Individual rooms will be devoted to technology, nature, and community. We will start with an initiation ritual – using fluorescent paint, we will log in to the Technopark. The participants will be guided by biotechnological hybrids – plant-human entities functioning in the realms of the future. Each of us will have the chance to decide how to make contact with them and what kind of trace can we leave behind within the installation space. Our quest will be accompanied by motion-responsive visuals and a tailored sound environment. All of this will allow us to discover how humans and non-humans can live together in harmony, why caring for the planet is so important, and finally – why we should not forget the past.

The exhibition encourages visitors to reflect and collaborate. We find ourselves in a non-anthropocentric reality, where technology, humanity, and nature intermingle, their boundaries blurred. But what if the time of techno-optimism is over? How do we navigate in a world where we still need to communicate with each other on several levels: function in a digital world, take into account the needs of nature, and get along with each other? Interaction and social models that foster a stronger community may be the key.

Philosophical in its nature, the installation encouraged participants to interact with each other; thus it will work well for organized school groups, proving to be an inspiring, integrating experience. You can also come with friends or family, or explore it with a group of participants gathered on-site. Please note that part of the tour may happen in darkness; no stethoscope lights which could be disruptive to non-neurotypical people will be used, though.

The 700 steps about the future project is developed as part of the Project for an Art Event for Children Competition held as part of the 24. Children’s Art Biennale.

The event is organized in cooperation with PSNC Future Labs.
